The Bangkok South Criminal Court scheduled mediation for a defamation case between Noom Kanchai Kamnerdploy and Poo Mantana in which Kanchai is the plaintiff filing a total of six lawsuits. The latest case involves defamation by advertising with 17 counts based on social media posts that insinuated references.
On Poo Mantana’s side, she and her mediation team submitted three conditions to the court: to stop posting critical remarks, to agree to apologize to Noom Kanchai first—but Noom must apologize to Poo in return—and to agree to take a joint photo to end the dispute. Poo gave this interview to the media.
Poo: Today’s case is the defamation lawsuit Noom Kanchai filed against me regarding my repeated, vague posts that did not specify anyone. He then added more lawsuits.
Madam Sam P: This is a defamation case from this year. Today the court scheduled mediation and guided how both parties could resolve the matter amicably. Actually, Noom wants to end the dispute, but Poo must stop posting first. However, during the court-given period from the 29th until today, the 7th, Poo slipped up and posted again, whether it implied anyone is unclear.
Poo: I did notintend to implyhim. I just posted normally as I do; the opposing party might have thought it was about them.
Madam Sam P: The conclusion today, the court explained that since we did notcomplywith the plaintiff’s proposal, if Poo followed all the plaintiff’s conditions, everything would end well. Therefore, the court will allow more time and set another mediation on 17-18 September. The court hopes all will be resolved. Poo must not make any further critical remarks about Noom. During proceedings, Poo stated: 1) The defendant agrees to apologize and close past issues and promises not to mention the plaintiff again; 2) Requests the plaintiff to apologize to the defendant for the times the show invited the opposing party to mention the defendant and promises to prevent future incidents; 3) Both parties agree to shake hands and take photos together to show reconciliation as colleagues and to end the dispute amicably. These are Poo’s proposals, but Noom has not responded yet. Madam hopes Noom will kindly reconsider the agreement they previously discussed.
Poo: Because I have many opponents, sometimes I just post to vent my feelings. They may think it’s about them, and I don’t know what to do.
Madam Sam P: From now on, Poo must be careful about posting. Some people may think we’re talking about them even if we do not mean it. So, before posting, we must consider not to affect others or if we are mentioned, to explain with reasoning.
, Poo: I am willing to mediate. I am younger than him, so I am willing to apologize first. I want Noom Kanchai to apologize to me, too, for the distortions on the "Hon Krasae" show that caused me great damage. The opposing party has appeared on many other shows, distorting facts, affecting my business, career, and family.
Dr. Krit: Our team discussed all cases Poo has. We agreed Poo will stop, and her opponents will stop as well. The justice process will proceed accordingly. Cases that can be settled will be settled. We want to end because we are tired. Who is right or wrong will be decided by the justice system.
Madam Sam P: Currently, Noomhas filed six lawsuits against Poo. The court suggested the best solution: after Poo apologizes and reconciles, Noom will withdraw all cases, including those from lawyer Toi. Poo will try tocomplywith the agreed conditions. Poo, can you apologize to Noom here?Poo: No.
Dr. Krit: All cases will be withdrawn if possible. They need sincerity from Poo to mediate and apologize case by case.
Poo: If we mediate all, then each will withdraw their cases. I still have a case filed against Noom Kanchai.
Madam Sam P: So far, Noom has not made any counterproposal. He only wants one thing: for Poo to stop mentioning him and his family.
Poo:
If neither side mentions the other, that’s fine. Both withdraw cases. Noom must also acknowledge the damage I’ve suffered over three years. Noom has contributed to spreading distorted facts and must sincerely apologize to me. If he refuses, then we let the justice system handle it. Dr. Krit: Noom does not need to apologize yet. We will apologize first for our faults. Whether Noom apologizes is his choice. His willingness to mediate is a good sign; he is a superstar and likely understands and will let go.
Poo:
(Shakes head) Everyone wants this to end, but I have my stance. We both have to step back a bit. Noom must accept this and apologize. Madam Sam P: I believe Noom is a good person. He does not hate Poo or want her imprisoned. He sympathizes with her child and wants her to return to live selling. He’s willing to help. I apologize to Noom for the implications. It’s positive that society knows Noom is not angry or hateful toward Poo.
Dr. Krit: We are not on different paths. We agreed well. Poo is the victim. I don’t know what it feels like to be her. She is honest, and sometimes honesty leads to cases. Deep down, she wants to end it and mediate because it’s tiring. It depends on Noom whether he will show mercy to a younger colleague in the entertainment industry.
Poo:
We both have to step back. If there is anything, let’s meet and talk. I’m ready to meet Noom directly, not through anyone else. Five people: me, Noom, Madam Sam P, Mr. Krit, and Professor Odd. We can communicate and reconcile without others. Whatever Noom wants me to do or I want Noom to do, we can discuss. But I’m not comfortable with Noom bringing lawyer Toi; I prefer another representative. I’m uncomfortable dealing through lawyer Toi. Madam Sam P: Lawyer Toi represents Noom. Poo must accept this if she wants to negotiate.
Poo: He always sides with Noom. I’m the one being harmed. Please understand me.
Madam Sam P: Mediation requires talking.
Poo: I understand the lawyers want mediation. My opinion may differ from the two lawyers. I apologize for that.
I have my principles and dignity. I will apologize if I am wrong, but not if I am right. I did not start this incident. Actually, I don’t have to apologize to Noom, but since the court kindly allowed mediation, I am willing to step back. I am his junior in the industry; I will apologize first, but he must also step back and apologize. Madam Sam P: It depends on Poo’s sincerity. If she genuinely wants to end the dispute, everything will end well.
Poo: Even if you side with Noom, please have sympathy for me.
Madam Sam P: We have to step back. He already offered this. We just need to apologize, and he will gladly withdraw all cases. That’s excellent.
Dr. Krit: Let’s not argue in front of the media.
Madam Sam P: It takes time. I’m very glad Noom has sent a signal. Now, we just wait for Poo. Overall, the cases are not worrisome anymore. Only the defamation case remains.
Poo: At first, I was very angry with him. Over time, I have calmed down. My lawyer helped me see a psychiatrist and take medicine on time. When he insults me and I immediately respond, it lessens the impact.
Madam Sam P: The psychiatrist advised stopping social media use.
Poo: Sometimes I want to keep evidence to show the court what he said about me. I have never had bad news before. I couldn’t accept this. I have seen a psychiatrist for three years and taken medicine consistently, except for one period. The stress from being targeted when I was not at fault led me to seek psychiatric help. I met Madam Sam P, who helped heal because she had experienced similar issues. My mother and sister also took me to chant and meditate, which helped heal my mind.
Madam Sam P: Poo’s condition was critical; she could harm herself at any time. The doctor said she needs close care and to stop social media. She has blocked all but still secretly checks. It must be gradual.
Poo: Now I am better, taking medicine on time. The medicine balances brain chemistry, helping me control my emotions. If someone provokes me, I remain calm and use dharma to heal my mind. Elders want me to let go. I am not the only one criticized.
