In Nonthaburi, a rescue worker surrendered to police at Bang Bua Thong Police Station after an arrest warrant was issued for assaulting his wife and fleeing with her belongings. He agreed to divorce and was taken to retrieve an ambulance left parked near Phetkasem Road.
The case involves Ms. Prompis reporting to investigators at Bang Bua Thong Police Station in Nonthaburi while bearing injuries and bruises on her body, face, and head from being assaulted. She filed charges against her husband, Mr. Sothom, who attacked her after seeing chat messages between her and an ex-boyfriend from her youth. The confrontation escalated to physical violence using a gun handle. Mr. Sothom reportedly threatened to kill her and fled with several valuable items. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on 19 May 2026.
Subsequently, the Nonthaburi Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Sothom dated 20 May 2026, warrant number J 714/2569. Charges include possession of an unlicensed firearm, carrying a weapon in public without cause, nighttime theft, and assault causing bodily and psychological harm, as previously reported.
Most recently, on the morning of 24 May 2026, Mr. Sothom, a volunteer rescuer, surrendered to Pol. Col. Thatsakorn Konthongtha, Superintendent of Bang Bua Thong Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Col. Sirodom Sripanya, head of the investigation unit, bringing with him a BB gun magazine used in the assault. Ms. Prompis, his wife, her younger sister, and Mr. Saichon Nitkham, assistant investigator for Nonthaburi District 7, accompanied him to the investigation room.
Ms. Prompis revealed that Mr. Sothom contacted her to say he would return her belongings and surrender at Bang Bua Thong Police Station. He asked for a chance to reconcile, though they agreed to divorce first to live separately. Whether they reunite in the future depends on him, as she still feels afraid and bears significant physical injuries. She said he claimed he would change, though she felt he should have done so long ago.
Ms. Prompis added that he apologized to their family for his actions and to her. They agreed she would withdraw the complaint, hoping he could have a future and employment. If their case ends, she wishes it to conclude amicably and for them to remember each other positively. After their discussion, he agreed to divorce, and they will live separate lives; she will take no further action.
Mr. Sothom, who declined to comment at this time, only apologized to everyone before police took him to retrieve a Toyota ambulance van with Bangkok license plates at Soi Phetkasem 64. This was the vehicle he drove away from their home on the night of the incident.
