Announcement No. 4 from the Meteorological Department warns of strong winds and heavy to very heavy rain. Check the list of affected provinces and monitor accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and flash flood runoff.
On 5 August 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentissued Announcement No. 4 regarding strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand and heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand, effective from 6 to 9 August 2026.
It stated that the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions will see increasing rain, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. The central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the southern region will have heavy rain in some areas. This is due to a monsoon trough passing over the upper northern and northeastern regions combined with a strong southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The public is advised to be cautious of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and flash flood runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands.
The upper Andaman Sea will have strong winds with waves 2-4 meters high, exceeding 4 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves 2-3 meters high, exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand are advised not to leave the shore during 6–9 August 2026 for safety.
