On 20 August 2026, reports indicated that at the competition stage, ‘Superstar Hermit Contortionist’ held at the Thai Traditional Massage and Wellness National Fair in Hall 8 of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, one of the highlights was Roi Et Governor Chatchawan Benjasiriwong appearing in full hermit attire. His participation reflected his commitment to supporting the preservation and promotion of Thai wisdom.
Meanwhile, the representative team from Roi Et province, 'Roi Kern Leela Montra Saket Nakhon' from the Roi Et Provincial Public Health Office, did not disappoint their supporters, showcasing hermit contortion moves that skillfully combined the beauty of arts and culture with health knowledge.
The results showed that the team ‘Roi Kern Leela Montra Saket Nakhon’ secured the national championship in the category for public health agencies, senior citizen clubs, and the general public, receiving a 30,000-baht prize and a certificate.
The competition featured 83 teams nationwide, which were narrowed down to nine finalists competing for a total prize pool exceeding 200,000 baht under the theme 'Stretch... Contort... Overcome Disease.'
The competition atmosphere was lively and colorful, involving children, youth, Thai traditional medical personnel, senior citizens, and the general public creatively performing hermit contortion poses.
Dr. Pongsathorn Pokpermdee, Director-General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, stated that the competition attracted significant interest and aims to establish hermit contortion as an alternative health care method, integrating art and culture to reach all age groups.
From a Thai wisdom stage to a national platform, today the name 'Roi Kern Leela Montra Saket Nakhon' is etched as Thailand’s champion, while the Roi Et governor added vibrant flair by personally participating, showing he came not only to cheer but to enliven the event himself.
