Bus Drivers Condition After Train Collision Remains Hospitalized, Improving Before Interrogation

The condition of the bus driver after being struck by a train, which caused the bus to catch fire, remains hospitalized. Officials are waiting for the driver's condition to improve before conducting an interrogation.

On 17 May 2026, regarding the train collision with a bus in the Makkasan Police Station area, police have charged the train driver with one count: "negligent act causing death and serious injury to others." The driver was taken in for questioning since last night and was released on bail without detention after the investigation, as previously reported.

Meanwhile, the bus driver is still receiving treatment at the hospital due to burns on the lower torso from the fire. Officials will wait for the driver's condition to improve before further questioning. At this time, no charges have been considered against the bus driver.

As for the barrier control personnel, police have not yet summoned them for questioning but will call them in later regarding their duty procedures. No charges have been filed against them. In addition to charging the train driver with negligence causing death and serious injury, authorities will compile all testimonies and surrounding evidence to consider any further charges.
