The Democrat Party has launched an offensive against "scammers," describing them as more dangerous than viruses and calling on the international community to collaborate in suppressing grey capital after discovering links to stock exchange-listed companies.
On 3 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Isra Suntornwat, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, issued a statement urging Thai society and the international community to take seriously the "scammer menace." He stated that this threat is more vicious than any virus and compared the network to a "malignant cancer" that spreads and has already drained billions of dollars from victims annually. Preliminary investigations revealed a complex network with astonishing connections across multiple sectors.
The Deputy Leader said the scammer network is linked to businesses and companies listed on the stock exchange, banks, financial institutions, and politicians in several countries. The party has submitted evidence of financial transaction trails related to scammers to the Anti-Money Laundering Office and the Securities and Exchange Commission for these agencies to investigate and expand efforts within their authority.
He emphasized that this is not just a national issue but a global one affecting everyone. He called on the public to participate by reporting any tips, information, or evidence related to scammers and call center gangs. Information can be sent directly to the Democrat Party at public@democrat.or.th to jointly combat grey and black capital.
