Don't miss tonight, 4 Dec 2025, the phenomenon "Super Full Moon" the last full moon closest to Earth for 2025, visible all night long
On 4 December 2025, the Bangkok Planetarium Facebook page, Science Learning Promotion and Development Center, posted that the "Super Full Moon," the last full moon closest to Earth this year, will be visible throughout the night.
Tonight, the moon will orbit close to Earth at approximately 357,219 kilometers, nearer than the average distance of about 380,000 kilometers. This causes the moon to appear about 14% larger and roughly 30% brighter compared to its farthest point in the year (Micro Full Moon).
Although the event on 4 December is not the absolute closest moon of 2025, it still qualifies as a "Super Full Moon." The difference from 5 November, the year's closest approach, is less than 300 kilometers (around 356,900 kilometers), making it virtually indistinguishable to the naked eye. Tonight, the moon will first appear on the eastern horizon after sunset and can be observed all night without aid.
In Phatthalung Province, reporters noted favorable weather conditions, with the moon rising from the eastern horizon as the sun set, allowing it to be seen clearly all night with the naked eye.
