On 18 August 2026, the embassy received updates from the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as per a letter dated 17 August 2026, concerning the status of the investigation into my brother’s death, with key details as follows.
1. Investigation progress: The case remains under investigation with no conclusions or official autopsy results yet. Georgian authorities noted that more time is required to thoroughly examine all data and evidence to reach a complete and accurate conclusion.
2. Additional information about his arrival date in Georgia: The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided an initial timeline consistent with previous embassy data, adding that on 11 July 2026, the day he arrived in Georgia, he visited a doctor at LLC American Hospital Network in Tbilisi, where medication was prescribed. However, details about the medication’s name or type have not been disclosed.
3. Examination of personal belongings: Authorities inspected his personal items, including personal care products, electronic devices, documents, clothing, and regular medications. No poisons, drugs, or psychoactive substances were found. Nonetheless, these items have not yet been returned to the family because they are still needed for further investigation.
