One of the stars of "The Reds" Liverpool has threatened to leave the club this summer if his demands are not met.
Federico Chiesa, the Italian international winger for "The Reds" Liverpool, has made it clear that he is considering saying goodbye to Anfield this summer if he does not receive regular playing opportunities. He is preparing to have an open discussion with the new manager, Andoni Iraola.
Chiesa transferred from Juventus to Liverpool in the summer of 2024 but has hardly had chances to start matches, mostly sitting on the bench. Since Italy did not qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Chiesa is set to join Liverpool's preseason tour in the United States next month with the goal of discussing his playing prospects for the upcoming season with new manager Andoni Iraola. If it looks like the situation will be the same as before, he is ready to move on.
Chiesa said, "I want to play. If I can't maintain consistent performance in the Premier League, I have to look elsewhere. I barely played in my first year at Liverpool, and last year was much the same."
"I will attend the training camp in the United States, then I will talk with the club and new manager Iraola, and then we will see what happens."
Chiesa also revealed that his potential transfer in January was blocked by Liverpool due to injuries to Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
"I have hardly played since early 2026. I have a good relationship with Liverpool. In January, the club and the coach told me I couldn't leave. They needed me, partly because of player numbers. We were in a difficult situation. I understood and stayed."
"Now I am open to everything. The most important thing is to play. I don't think I have to be a starter; I am ready to fight for my place, wherever that may be," Chiesa concluded.
