"General Muek" Delighted! Phichit cycling competition thrives with nearly 800 cyclists nationwide competing. This headline highlights the excitement and large participation in the event.
The third leg of the Thailand BMX Cycling Championship and the first leg of the National Balance Bike Championship took place in Phichit Province from 22-24 May, drawing intense excitement with nearly 800 athletes registering. BMX riders expressed pride in cycling along the footsteps of Her Majesty the Queen at the Saranjit Mongkolsuk Cycling Stadium. The Cycling Association of Thailand under royal patronage will hold a royal blessing ceremony for Her Majesty the Queen's birthday on 3 June 2026 at 09:00 at the Huamark Velodrome, Sports Authority of Thailand.
General Decha Hemkrasri, Deputy President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under royal patronage, announced that the association, together with Phichit Province and its Provincial Administrative Organization, organized the 2026 Thailand BMX Championship third leg and the first leg of the National Balance Bike Championship at the Saranjit Mongkolsuk Cycling Stadium (Bueng Sifa) from 22-24 May. The events were broadcast live on Facebook via Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, as well as on YouTube's TCA Channel throughout the three days.
General Decha said the opening ceremony of the BMX Thailand Championship was held on 22 May at 08:30 near the bird watching pavilion at Bueng Sifa, with Ms. Thaniya Naipinit, Governor of Phichit Province, presiding. The National Balance Bike Championship opening took place on 24 May at 08:30, with Mr. Kris Pensupa, President of the Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization, officiating.
General Decha added that both events attracted a large number of athletes, totaling nearly 800 for BMX and balance bike competitions combined. BMX riders felt honored to ride following the footsteps of Her Majesty the Queen, who cycled at this stadium on 23 March 2024, marking the inaugural competition after Their Majesties the King and Queen officially opened the Saranjit Mongkolsuk Cycling Stadium—a gesture of immense royal grace. Additionally, the Cycling Association of Thailand under royal patronage will hold a royal blessing ceremony for Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday on 3 June 2026 at 09:00 at the Huamark Velodrome, Sports Authority of Thailand.
Mr. Chairat Thomdon, a BMX rider from the Sisatchanalai BMX Racing (SBR) team, shared, “This is my first opportunity to compete at the Saranjit Mongkolsuk Cycling Stadium. I feel fortunate to ride in the footsteps of Her Majesty the Queen. The BMX track by Bueng Sifa is beautiful, attracting many athletes eager to compete, and I aim to perform my best.”
Ms. Hathai Petch Jaiswang, a rider from the Fisherman Friend Rama 3 team, said, “All athletes riding here in the footsteps of Her Majesty the Queen, who cycled at this stadium on 23 March 2024, feel deeply honored by this immense royal grace.”
The Thai cycling chief further noted that the balance bike event saw particularly high registrations. With nearly 800 athletes in both events plus over 2,000 accompanying family members and supporters, all hotels in Phichit were fully booked. Some athletes stayed in Phitsanulok Province or various districts of Phichit, effectively stimulating the local economy and distributing income to communities, as well as promoting vibrant tourism.
Parents wishing to register their children for the first leg of the 2026 National Balance Bike Championship for the Royal Trophy can do so in person at the operations center near the bird watching pavilion at Bueng Sifa on 23 May from 08:00 to 17:00.
