Robertson Speaks Candidly About Liverpool and One Rival After Securing Top 5 Premier League Finish for UCL

Robertson speaks candidly about Liverpool and one rival after finishing in the Premier League's top 5 and qualifying for the UCL.

On 25 May 2026 GMT+7, Andy Robertson, Liverpool's left-back, spoke to Sky Sports after the final match of the 2025-26 Premier League season. This game marked his farewell as a player for the Reds, alongside Mohamed Salah.

In this match, Andy Robertson started for Liverpool and was substituted by Milos Kerkez in the 83rd minute. The game ended in a 1-1 draw against Brentford, earning a crucial point that secured 5th place in the Premier League table and a ticket to the UEFA Champions League. This achievement came before his departure from the club after nine years, during which he helped the team win eight trophies, as follows:

Two Premier League titles.

One UEFA Champions League title.

One FIFA Club World Cup.

Two Carabao Cups (League Cups).

One FA Cup.

One UEFA Super Cup.

Andy Robertson spoke about the Liverpool fans who came to see him off in his final game at Anfield before his contract expired: "They came to support us every week. I've been here for nine years, and we've played in front of full stadiums at Anfield and packed away games every time."

Regarding qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, he said: "It was essential. This season was very disappointing compared to what we expected. It was clear before Christmas that things wouldn't go as planned. In the end, we barely secured qualification. I hope they can build on this."

"When we first arrived, winning the UCL or Premier League was a dream. Now it's an expectation. Credit goes to everyone in the team. The reception Jordan Henderson received moved me deeply. He didn't get such a send-off when he left in the summer."

Speaking about his personal feelings now, he said: "I'm emotionally exhausted. This week has been very busy trying to manage my emotions and say goodbye to those I need to."

"Pep Guardiola (Manchester City manager who is also leaving the Premier League alongside Robertson) pushed us to new limits. We probably would have won more Premier League titles if not for him. Seamus Coleman is about to leave Everton, and he's a great player for this club."

"In the coming years, both of us (Robertson and Salah) are happy to return to this club. This is an important chapter in our story, but it's not the end. The most important thing now is to rest and focus on the World Cup. I know this is our family, and we will be warmly welcomed back."
