WBC and WBC MuayThai Conventions Kick Off with Joint Opening by Thanwa, Chadchart, and Thapanee

The grand opening of the WBC and WBC MuayThai Conventions has begun, with Thanwa, Chadchart, and Thapanee joining hands to launch the spectacular event.


On Monday, 1 Dec 2025, at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel, Thanwa Wutthitham, advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Sports; Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok; and Thapanee Kiatipeuy, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), together with Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), and Major General Thanapon Phakdipoom, President of WBC MuayThai, jointly presided over the opening of the 63rd WBC Annual Convention and the inaugural WBC MuayThai Convention hosted by Thailand. More than 2,000 boxing enthusiasts attended the impressive event.


The World Boxing Council (WBC), the leading global boxing organization, has convened its 63rd Annual Convention alongside the first-ever WBC MuayThai Convention from 30 Nov to 5 Dec 2025 at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel and Benjasiri Park, Bangkok. The opening ceremony on the morning of 1 Dec was honored by the presence of government officials including Thanwa Wutthitham, advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Sports; Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok; and Thapanee Kiatipeuy, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, along with WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman and WBC MuayThai President Major General Thanapon Phakdipoom. Over 2,000 registered former world champions from around the world attended. The evening featured a green carpet walk and gala dinner.


Notable former world champions attending include Julio César Chávez, Erik Morales, Oleksandr Usyk, Terence Crawford, Katie Taylor, Amir Khan, José Luis Castillo, Mickey Ward, Michael Moorer, Conor Benn, La Barbie, and Lulu Juarez. Former world champions in both Muay Thai and boxing include Chatchai Sasakul, Napa Kiatwanchai, Pongsaklek Kratingdaenggym, Sirimongkol Singwangcha (Singmanasak, Nakornluang Promotion), Kompayak CP Freshmart, Muangchai Kittikasem, Saman S. Jaturong, Wiraphon Nakornluang Promotion, Eagle Den Julphan, Suriyan S. Rungvisai (Nakornluang Promotion), Winyu Pradornyims, Usanakorn Thawilsuwanwang, Khem Sit Songpeenong, Jomthong Chuwattana, and Sanehchan Kamnan Chatchaemueangchon.


Upcoming activities include on 2 Dec from 14:30 to 16:00 at Wat That Thong School the WBC Cares social activity; from 18:00 to 20:30 at Benjasiri Park a WBC World Muay Thai Championship; on 3 Dec from 10:00 to 16:00 at Benjasiri Park amateur Muay Thai competitions; on 4 Dec from 10:00 to 16:00 amateur Muay Thai at Benjasiri Park, and from 18:00 to 23:00 at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel WBC World Boxing Championship bouts. The boxing matches on 2 Dec will be held at Benjasiri Park starting at 18:30 and broadcast live on True4U channel from 20:00 to 22:00. The Muay Thai bouts include the main event for the WBC MuayThai Super Featherweight 130 lbs World Championship between Chailah Phol Lakboon (Thailand) and Josh McCulloch (Australia); WBC MuayThai Middleweight 160 lbs World Championship between Garrett Smylie (Ireland) and Tristan Stauffer (Switzerland); WBC MuayThai Super Bantamweight 122 lbs World Championship between Saoek A. Achariya (Thailand) and Yok Morakot W. Sangpraipai (Thailand); WBC MuayThai Diamond Welterweight 147 lbs Championship between Kapitan Petchyindee (Thailand) and Max McVicher (Australia); WBC MuayThai Women’s Light Flyweight 108 lbs World Championship between Kaikem Sit Panancherng (Thailand) and Mafia Phet Nongkhee (Thailand); and the WBC MuayThai Women’s Light Flyweight 108 lbs title between Phetsaipan Sit Panancherng (Thailand) and Nong Noey Sit Wirachart (Thailand).


On 4 Dec, the boxing matches will take place at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel starting at 18:30, with live broadcast on True4U from 20:00 to 22:00. The bouts under international boxing rules include the main event for the WBC Light Flyweight 108 lbs World Championship between Knockout CPF (Thailand) and Junior Zarate (Argentina), who replaces Carlos Canizales (Venezuela) who withdrew; WBC Asia and WBC Far East Super Welterweight 154 lbs Championship between Tonghui Li (China) and Victor Nagbe (Australia); WBC International Silver Super Flyweight 115 lbs Championship between Kitidech Hirunsuk (Thailand) and Ryutaro Nakagaki (Japan); WBC Far East Female Super Bantamweight 122 lbs Championship between Po Denman (Thailand) and Ellie Bouttell (England); WBC Asia Silver Featherweight 126 lbs Championship between Saensuk Ketsampao (Thailand) and Lite Dewuxi (China).
