“View Kulwut” Drops a Memorable Line After Not Ready to Compete for SEA Games 2025 Mens Singles Badminton Gold (Clip)

“View Kulwut” drops a memorable line after announcing he is not ready to compete for the men's singles badminton gold at SEA Games 2025.

On 2 Dec 2025 GMT+7, “View” Kulwut Vitidsarn, the world’s No. 3 men's singles badminton player, said his body is still not fully fit and he recently underwent wisdom tooth surgery. As a result, he will only play for the Thai national team in the team event, while the men's singles individual event will feature Kantaphon Wangcharoen and “Ikyu” Panitchaphon Teeraratskul.

The badminton competition will award seven gold medals in total and will be held from 7 to 14 December at Gymnasium 4, Thammasat University Rangsit Campus (Pathum Thani).

View Kulwut said, “I will compete in the team event. For the individual event, I might not play because my body isn’t 100% yet due to the wisdom tooth surgery and the recovery period, which meant I couldn’t train fully. Recently, I’ve returned to training more intensely but overall I’m still not at full strength. This SEA Games is very competitive as every country is sending top world-class athletes, making it the fiercest SEA Games yet.”

“As for the real goal of winning gold at home, I do want it, but my current physical condition isn’t suitable. Realistically though, I have won before,” View said with a slight smile.

Meanwhile, “Coach Pe” Phatthapon Ngensrisuk added, “View just had wisdom tooth surgery because he’d been in pain since Japan and has had it removed. His fitness isn’t yet 100%, but he can still play well in the team event because it’s match-by-match. If View doesn’t play in the individual men’s singles, then Kantaphon and Ikyu will compete.”

Regarding whether View not competing in the men’s singles individual event affects the gold medal target, Coach Pe explained, “If an athlete isn’t fully fit, competing wouldn’t allow them to perform at their best. We want the most prepared athletes to play. I believe all athletes are capable, especially playing at home with support from the public and fans, which can help push our athletes to perform well.”
