Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat revealed that preparations to host the 2026 World Horticultural Expo in Udon Thani have progressed 43%, alongside lessons learned from major expos to enhance event planning.
On 29 Dec, reporters learned that recently Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, chaired the first 2025/2026 meeting of the organizing committee for the 2026 World Horticultural Expo in Udon Thani. The meeting was attended by Mr. Winarot Sapsongsuk, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and representatives from related agencies at the Ministry's conference room and via online conferencing.
Lieutenant Colonel Thammanat stated that the Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with related agencies including the private sector and local authorities, is fully advancing preparations for the 2026 Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo. They have incorporated additional recommendations from the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) into operational planning. Progress reports on building construction, public utilities, and landscaping show advancement of over 43%. Scheduled from 1 Nov 2026 to 14 Mar 2027, the expo will serve as a key platform to showcase Thailand's innovations in horticulture and the green industry on an international stage, while driving economic growth in Udon Thani and neighboring provinces.
"Regarding the World Horticultural Expo in Udon Thani, the government, Ministry of Agriculture, and all involved sectors have fully integrated efforts in infrastructure development, site management, and other areas. Lessons learned from previous expos have been applied to improve operational planning and event execution," said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture.
