Longan farmers in eight northern provinces have registered for the Quality Longan Orchard Development Program, receiving 1,000 baht per rai. The application deadline is the end of January. Don’t forget to check the program’s conditions for eligibility.
On 7 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Anchalee Suwajittanon, Director-General of the Department of Agricultural Extension, stated that the Quality Longan Orchard Development Program for canopy and cluster pruning to revitalize orchards and increase income is underway. Farmers who meet the program’s qualifications and conditions have had funds transferred directly into their accounts by the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), according to the registered accounts and entitlements, limited to 10 rai per household. The first batch received over 48 million baht.
Regarding operations in the targeted eight provinces—Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Lamphun, Phrae, Phayao, Nan, and Tak—the Department of Agricultural Extension is currently compiling and submitting lists of eligible farmers to the BAAC for fund transfers. Simultaneously, they are promoting the program to invite qualified longan farmers to apply and prepare the required documentation to confirm their eligibility for the benefits.
The Department of Agricultural Extension has revised the operational manual to facilitate easier access to the program for farmers. At every step, agricultural extension officers act as mentors, guiding farmers on canopy and cluster pruning during this production season, which covers the period after harvesting the 2025 longan crop through the end of the 2026 harvest season. If there is little or no fruit set, farmers are not required to prune clusters but must report this to officers for further action.
Additionally, farmers who have already pruned their canopies during the 2025 production season remain eligible to participate in the program. The same applies to cluster pruning if force majeure conditions apply, such as adverse weather, natural disasters, pests, diseases, or other factors.
Therefore, the Department of Agricultural Extension invites longan farmers in the eight target northern provinces who have productive longan orchards aged 5 to 25 years and commercial varieties—including E-Dor, Pink, Puang Thong, and Biao Kiew—to apply for the program. Participants will receive 1,000 baht per rai, up to 10 rai per household, to support canopy and cluster pruning and production inputs. They will also gain accurate knowledge on quality longan production technology to produce larger, AA-grade fruit through proper pruning. Applications are open until 31 Jan 2026 GMT+7 at district agricultural offices, subdistrict administrative organizations, village head offices, or other designated locations. For inquiries, farmers can contact their local district or provincial agricultural offices.
