
The nationwide "ban on agricultural burning" is reinforced until 31 Mar 2026 to reduce toxic PM2.5 dust. Violators will be suspended from participating in farmer support and assistance programs for two years.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives issued the second version of the directive on managing, preventing, and resolving fine dust pollution (PM2.5) in the agricultural sector for 2025. This management measure includes a ban on burning in agricultural areas starting from 1 Feb 2026.
. "Agricultural burning" refers to burning caused by farmers themselves or by others on behalf of farmers in their own agricultural land or land they hold rights to or use, during the period from 1 Feb 2026 to 31 Mar 2026.
Any farmer found to have burned agricultural land will be disqualified from participating in farmer support and capacity-building programs from 1 Apr 2026 to 31 Mar 2028, except for assistance provided to farmers affected by agricultural disasters.
