
The Department of Agriculture awarded a certificate confirming Bayer Thailand's compliance with the Quality Controlled Seed Collectors project standards, reinforcing quality seed standards for Thai farmers and export markets.
On 30 Mar, reporters reported that recently, Mr. Rapeepat Chantrasriwong, Director-General of the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, presented a plaque of honor and a certificate confirming compliance with the Quality Controlled Seed Collectors project (Q Factory) to Bayer Thai Co., Ltd. The certificate was received by Mr. Thinkorn Sriwichai, Senior Manager of the Hybrid Corn Seed Production Center in Phitsanulok, and Mr. Phongphon Permsub, Senior Manager of the Vegetable Seed Production Center in Khon Kaen. This reflects the capability and internationally recognized standards of quality seed production. The Q Factory project certifies operators with facilities for collecting, inspecting, and producing quality controlled seeds, distinguished by safety, quality, and systematic control of production processes, along with social and environmental responsibility.
The Vegetable Seed Production Center in Khon Kaen operates a comprehensive end-to-end production system, starting with receiving seeds from a nationwide network of farmers, followed by pest control cleaning, quality enhancement such as seed coating and germination stimulation, quality inspection, and automated packaging. It also conducts quality analysis in laboratories before storing seeds in a modern temperature-controlled warehouse, ready for export under the Seminis and De Ruiter brands to key global markets such asthe United States and the Netherlands.China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asian countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
Further reports indicate that the Hybrid Corn Seed Production Center in Phitsanulok produces hybrid corn seeds under the DEKALB brand with a quality-controlled production system for domestic sales and export. It has laboratories for pest inspection and seed physiology analysis, certified by the Department of Agriculture in 2023 and 2025 respectively. These labs efficiently inspect seeds for phytosanitary certificates and re-export certificates, reducing costs and approval times, thereby enabling delivery and export of high-quality seeds to farmers in Thailand and worldwide, complying with the Department of Agriculture’s standards and import regulations of partner countries.
This Q Factory certification further underscores Bayer Thailand's commitment to delivering quality seeds to support farmers in productive cultivation, aligned with the mission "Health for all, Hunger for none." It also supports the Department of Agriculture’s policy to advance Thailand as the World Tropical Seed Hub and strengthens Thailand's role as a seed production center in the Asia-Pacific region.
