
The Royal Gazette website has published the schedule for the Royal Plowing Ceremony and First Plowing Ritual, to be held from 12 to 13 May 2026 CE (B.E. 2569).
The Secretary-General of the Royal Household received the royal command ordering the schedule for the Royal Plowing Ceremony and First Plowing Ritual 2026 as follows.
Tuesday, 12 May 2026.Officials prepare for the Royal Plowing Ceremony and First Plowing Ritual at the ubosot of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram and at the ceremonial ground of Sanam Luang, ensuring everything is ready.
At 17:00, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen will travel by royal car from Phra Thinang Amphon Sathan, Dusit Palace, to the ubosot of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram in the Grand Palace.
His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen will enter the ubosot to light incense and candles in homage to the Emerald Buddha and other important Buddha images. Royal monks will complete the chanting of precepts. The King will perform the ceremonial bathing of the Buddha images Chaiwat, Ratchakarn 9, and Kanthararas, then sprinkle water on various plants, scatter flowers, and offer garlands at each Buddha image. He will pray for the abundance of crops in the kingdom. The Chief Royal Brahmin, Phithi Sri Wisutthikun, will read the proclamation of the Royal Plowing Ceremony. Eleven monks will chant Buddhist scriptures; upon completion, the King will pour sacred water, anoint, and bestow royal rings and a ceremonial spear to Mr. Winaroj Sapsongsuk, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, who will serve as Phaya Raek Na (Chief Plowman). The King will pour sacred water, anoint, and bestow the goddess who will participate in the First Plowing Ritual. At that moment, monks chant the auspicious mantra, and officials sound ceremonial gongs and musical instruments. The King will offer alms to the monks, who will give their blessings. After paying respects, the King and Queen will leave the ubosot and return by royal car to Phra Thinang Amphon Sathan, Dusit Palace.
On this day, attire is half-rank uniform with mourning.
Wednesday, 13 May 2026.At 07:19, His Majesty the King graciously commands Mr. Winaroj Sapsongsuk, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to board the royal car in front of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram, departing the Grand Palace through the Sawatdisophat Gate onto Sanam Chai Road, proceeding to the ceremonial ground at Sanam Luang, then leading a ceremonial procession to the Brahmin ceremony hall. Incense and candles will be lit to honor important deities, and sacred garments will be prepared.
At 08:30, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen will travel by royal car from Phra Thinang Amphon Sathan, Dusit Palace, to the ceremonial pavilion at Sanam Luang. During the auspicious time from 08:09 to 08:39, Mr. Winaroj Sapsongsuk, serving as Phaya Raek Na, will proceed with the goddess, exiting the Brahmin ceremony hall led by royal scholars and Brahmins, passing the pavilion before the throne. Phaya Raek Na will pay respects to the King, then proceed to the plowing area. Officials will lead the sacred oxen yoked together; Phaya Raek Na will anoint the oxen and plow. The plow will be drawn three rounds lengthwise and three rounds crosswise, scattering seeds as the royal astrologer sounds the ceremonial gong. Then the plow will cover the seeds with soil in three rounds. Officials will unyoke the oxen. Phaya Raek Na and the goddess will return to the Brahmin ceremony hall. Brahmins will offer seven kinds of food for the oxen, and the royal astrologer will deliver the prophetic declaration. Afterward, a ceremonial procession will escort Phaya Raek Na from the Brahmin ceremony hall. Phaya Raek Na will pay respects to the King, then proceed in procession to board the royal car to the demonstration field at Suan Chitralada.
His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen will return to Phra Thinang Amphon Sathan, Dusit Palace.
On this day, attire is the standard white uniform with mourning.
