Golden Nam Dok Mai Mango Farmers in Phitsanulok Sell at 2 Baht per Kilogram to Avoid Waste

Farmersof "Golden Nam Dok Mai Mango"in Phitsanulok Province are facing a price drop, announcing sales at 2-3 baht per kilogram but requiring buyers to pick the fruit themselves from the orchard, saying it is better than letting the mangoes fall from the trees.

On 17 April 2026, reporters reported that the Golden Nam Dok Mai mango problem in Phitsanulok is suffering from falling prices, especially in Wat Bot District, where many farmers grow this mango variety across various subdistricts. They are now affected by a significant price drop.

At the Golden Nam Dok Mai mango orchard of Ms. Duangnapa Phuthong, a resident of Nam Hak Village, Moo 3, Ban Yang Subdistrict, Wat Bot District, Phitsanulok, she announced sales of the mangoes at 2 baht per kilogram, and 3 baht per kilogram for bagged mangoes, but customers must pick the fruit themselves from the trees.

Ms. Duangnapa, the orchard owner, said she and her family cultivate 19 rai of Golden Nam Dok Mai mango number 4 variety. Each year, they harvest about 4-5 tons of mangoes. They usually sell wholesale at 8, 10, or 12 baht per kilogram depending on size, and retail at 20, 25, or 30 baht per kilogram. Each year, packing houses come to purchase directly from the orchard for distribution. However, this year, due to the recent oil crisis, no packing houses have come to buy the mangoes. As a result, she and her family have tried selling at Wat Bot market and various markets, but the large harvest volume overwhelms their selling capacity. Therefore, they announced sales at 2-3 baht per kilogram, with customers coming to pick the fruit themselves. The Golden Nam Dok Mai mangoes weigh about 2 to 3 fruits per kilogram, and selling at this low price is still betterthanletting the mangoes fall from the trees and rot eventually.

Throughout the day, many locals from Wat Bot District and nearby provinces have come to buy mangoes for consumption and gifts. Some arrive by motorcycle to carry them away, others by private car. However, they hope the problemof the Golden Nam Dok Mai mango price dropwill end soon, expecting next year's harvest to return to normal conditions.
