The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives opened the Blooming Siam Thai Orchid Exhibition at Central Westgate Shopping Mall, elevating Thai orchids to the global stage, creating value, and increasing market competitiveness opportunities.
Mr. Winarot Sapsongsuk, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, presided over the opening ceremony of the Thai Orchid Exhibition under the concept "Blooming Siam The Global Charm of Thai Orchids: Beautifully Thai, to World-Class Elegance," held from 17 to 19 January 2026 at Central Westgate Shopping Mall, 1st floor, Nonthaburi Province. The event aims to promote and publicize Thai orchids widely, both nationally and internationally, as well as to elevate the image of Thai orchids as economically viable products that add value and increase income for farmers and entrepreneurs, serving as one of Thailand’s agricultural Soft Power assets.
Mr. Winarot said that currently, foreign markets show strong interest in Thai cut flowers, especially Thai orchids, resulting in increased export value. Orchids are a product group with competitive potential in the global market and can expand market share. The government’s policy is to enhance the quality and standards of agricultural products to create added value under the principle “market-driven, innovation-enhanced, income-increased.” This supports the development of distinctive, beautiful Thai orchids, promotes wide recognition nationally and internationally, and builds Thai orchid Soft Power as an important economic product that can boost export value and increase income for farmers and exporters. It also strengthens the orchid producers’ network and sustainably raises competitiveness in the global market.
During the event, there is a contest for potted and cut orchids competing for the Royal Trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, along with trophies and total prize money exceeding 471,500 baht. Award-winning orchids will be displayed for close public viewing throughout the event. Additionally, there are five orchid-related demonstration courses covering making orchid jewelry with resin coating, orchid hybridization, cultivation and care, orchid garland weaving, and diverse knowledge transfer about orchids. The event also provides space for entrepreneurs to participate in activities.
