Profile of "Mallika Boonmitrakhun Mahasuk," former Democrat Party MP and skilled female politician, who transitioned to TikTok live streaming as an influencer analyzing politics before announcing her independent candidacy for Bangkok governor.

On 28 April 2026, reporters reported that the current Bangkok Metropolitan Council members and Governor will complete their terms on 21 May 2026. According to the Local Council or Local Executive Election Act B.E. 2562 (2019) and its amendment, Section 11 requires elections to be held within 45 days after the council members or executives complete their terms.

The candidate registration period for Bangkok Metropolitan Council members and the Governor is set from 28 May to 1 June 2026, with the election scheduled for Sunday, 28 June 2026.

Currently, the only candidate who has clearly declared an independent bid for Bangkok Governor is Dr. Mallika Boonmitrakhun Mahasuk. Former party-list Member of Parliament for the Democrat Party.

Dr. Mallika Boonmitrakhun Mahasuk. Known by the nickname 'Ting,' or 'Molly' among media colleagues, she was born on 22 February 1973, currently aged 53. She hails from Chiang Muan District, Phayao Province, with Tai Lue ethnic roots from her mother, grandfather, and grandmother.

She graduated from Pong Ratchadaphisek School and Phayao Pittayakhom School.

Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Humanities, Ramkhamhaeng University.

Master's degree from the College of Social Innovation, Rangsit University.

Doctorate from the College of Social Innovation in Social Leadership, Business and Politics, Rangsit University.

Dr. Mallika Boonmitrakhun Mahasuk. She is a former Thai national cyclist and an amateur shooter for the Special Forces Shooting Club.  

Work history.

Dr. Mallika was a host and news anchor at ITV television station before resigning to run for election in 2005 under the Mahachon Party, and then in 2007 and 2011 under the Democrat Party.

She served as a member of the National Assembly in 2006 following the mid-year coup and was assistant secretary to several ministers, including Mom Rajawongse Sukumphan Boribhat, Minister of Culture; Minister Theera Salakpetch; and Minister Juti Krairiksh of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.

In the 2019 general election, Dr. Mallika ran as a Democrat Party list MP and was appointed advisor to the Minister of Commerce, Jurin Laksanawisit. In 2022, when Chaiyos Jiramethakorn resigned as a party-list MP, she advanced to fill his seat.

In the 2023 general election, Dr. Mallika was the Democrat Party’s 19th list candidate. On 21 September 2023, she announced her resignation from the Democrat Party and took a political hiatus.

After leaving politics, Dr. Mallika became a TikTok live streamer selling products online and regularly engaging with social media followers. Her live discussions often focus on current political events, presented in a straightforward, entertaining, and approachable manner, earning her a large fan base and many followers.
