The issue became a hot topic when the beauty queen Fa Wisansaya Phaksupakun , or Fa Barbie, Miss Grand Chiang Mai 2025, filed a complaint with Mr. Kanthas Phongpaiboonwech or Kan Jomphalang, after the case arose involving Flight Sergeant Paepsee (name withheld) Fa Barbie's younger brother was severely assaulted by a group of men who were riot police officers, known as Kor Por Hor, near the entrance of Soi Lat Phrao 2 in the early hours of 12 March.
Kan Jomphalang accompanied Fa Barbie to follow up on the case at Sutthisan Police Station before giving an interview to the media. Fa Barbie revealed that her brother had gone to a nightclub in the Lat Phrao area and got into an argument with the opposing group, which included three riot police officers and one civilian.
As her brother was walking to his car to go home, the group followed and attacked him, causing a torn jaw, swollen face, and an eye injury requiring two stitches. He is currently in a coma in the ICU. Fa Barbie had to gather all the evidence herself because locals feared the influence of the perpetrators, who are state officials.
Meanwhile, an important eyewitness, a good Samaritan rider, confirmed clearly seeing the incident and tried to intervene but was grabbed by the neck by one man in the group, who warned, "This is none of your business," before they proceeded to beat Flight Sergeant Paepsee badly and then fled.
Later, at Sutthisan Police Station, the deputy commander of the Protection and Crowd Control Division arrived to negotiate. One of the police officers involved admitted to the attack, claiming it stemmed from a dispute inside the club. He expressed regret and apologized to the injured party. The department initially ordered a serious disciplinary investigation and confirmed it would compensate for all damages.
Fa Barbie then stated that the perpetrators admitted guilt, expressed remorse, and apologized for their actions. Regarding compensation, they have taken responsibility to provide the best possible redress. Legal proceedings will continue.
Kan Jomphalang said the perpetrators were intoxicated and made a regrettable mistake. He also urged the perpetrators’ friends to stop mocking the victim on social media, warning that such behavior would only worsen the situation.
