The Journey of Namphueng Kanthira: From Stateless Child to Miss World Thailand 2026 Winner

Namphueng Kanthira Techaphatthanakul Once a stateless child, now 25 years old, she was born into the Tai Yai ethnic community in Chiang Rai. A precious gem ready to radiate brilliantly across the universe, after winning the crown at Miss World Thailand 2026. Today, we get to know the crown bearer and discover how her talents and beauty truly deserve the title.

Namphueng Kanthira Techaphatthanakul graduated from the Faculty of Medical Technology at Chiang Mai University. During her studies, she served as president of the Medical Technology student club at the university.

Namphueng was invited to participate in a discussion forum as a role model.An inspirational figure,she joined representatives from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and governments of 16 countries to seek solutions for assisting and resolving statelessness issues across the Asia-Pacific region.


Representing Thailand, she also took part in the Science Project Competition alongside youth from over 80 countries worldwide. She won the Special Award from USAID for humanitarian assistance for her research on developing a water-retaining seed coating from local tree latex to improve survival rates of upland rice during dry spells. This demonstrated her commitment to using science to truly enhance community quality of life, bringing honor to Thailand and ultimately earning her Thai citizenship with government support.

Namphueng Kanthira hasparticipatedin her first beauty pageant, Miss Universe Thailand Chiang Mai, with the goal of inspiring children, youth, and others who have lost life opportunities due to statelessness by raising awareness and social recognition so stateless people can gain opportunities and a place in society.

This year, she competed in Miss World Thailand 2026 after more than two years of preparation, determined to win so she can further her knowledge by pursuing a master's degree in political science and use that knowledge to continue helping stateless individuals. Namphueng was considered a strong contender in this competition.This time, 

her efforts paid off successfully as she beautifully claimed this prestigious title, matching her dedication and hard work—truly embodying both beauty and talent worthy of the crown.

Following this, Namphueng will be Thailand's sole representative traveling to compete in the 73rd Miss World pageant, aiming for the coveted blue crown. Let’s send our support to Namphueng Kanthira as she embarks on this global stage.
