After the beauty queen Ai Kanyalak Nookaeo was removed from her position as Miss Supranational Thailand 2026 just one day before her scheduled departure, with the Miss & Mister Supranational Thailand 2026 license holder stating she violated regulations and provided false information, and confirming no replacement contestant will be sent this year, sparking recent controversy.
Recently, Ai Kanyalak posted a timeline explaining the events leading to her dismissal to clarify and foster understanding, with the following content:
“1. The visa application process and passport return caused Ai to ask the organizers about the passport, leading to their misunderstanding that Ai had lost it.
On 26 June 2026 at 3:30 p.m., I submitted my visa application as per the organizers' procedures by handing over my passport to the agency assigned by the pageant.
On 30 June 2026 at 11:10 a.m., the visa officer (hereafter called Mr. A) informed us in the group chat that the visa was approved and that another officer (Mr. B) would handle returning the passport and requested a delivery address.
That same day, Mr. B called to ask where to send the passport. I said I was fitting my dress and no one was home to receive it, so I asked Mr. B to hold onto the passport until close to travel day. Since both of us were in Bangkok, delivery timing was not an issue, and no further discussion about the passport return occurred.
- Preparation before departure
After receiving the travel schedule on 2 July 2026, I had continuous preparation tasks.
* 3 July: Miss & Mister Supranational Thailand press conference
* 4 July: Filming and rehearsal
* 5–8 July: Preparing outfits, equipment, and activities as scheduled by the organizers
* 9 July: The team prepared luggage for travel
During this time, the passport remained with the agency and had not yet been delivered as agreed.
- Events from 9–11 July
On 9 July 2026, I fell ill with a high fever and a severe allergic reaction, requiring treatment at Ladprao Hospital during travel preparations. My team and I checked luggage and searched for the passport, but due to my poor health and medication effects, I was confused whether the passport was with me or still at the agency.
Because of this, at 00:57 on 11 July 2026, I called Mr. A worried about what to do if the passport was not found.
Mr. A immediately replied that the passport was still with Mr. B and would be sent the next morning, also noting he saw I was hospitalized and thus had not rushed the delivery.
Later, the passport was sent, and I received it at 11:33 a.m. on 11 July 2026 to prepare for travel on 12 July 2026, the revised date agreed with the organizers.
- Explanation regarding allegations of “losing the passport” and “providing false information”
I wish to clarify that my passport was never lost but remained with the visa agency assigned by the organizers throughout.
The confusion arose because when I was ill and on medication, I was unsure if the passport had been returned to me and immediately contacted the agency.
Once confirmed that the passport was still with the agency, it was sent the following day. Thus, the fact is not that the passport was lost but a misunderstanding about its location during my illness.
I never intended to conceal, distort, or provide false information to the organizers, and upon learning the facts, I promptly received my passport back from those handling the documents.
That I did not have my passport on 10 July does not mean I lost it, as it was still with the visa agency and could be tracked immediately upon inquiry until it was returned to me on 11 July. Therefore, the misunderstanding about the passport's holder is not false information or an intentional deception of the organizers.
2. About Ai’s illness
On Thursday morning, 9 July 2026, I began running a fever and my condition worsened with a high fever. Around 5:00 p.m., my mother took me to Ladprao Hospital, where doctors examined me and recommended admission, but because I had upcoming pageant duties, my family opted for urgent outpatient treatment first.
The hospital administered an injectable antibiotic, Ceftriaxone, along with steroids, but within 10 minutes I had a severe allergic reaction with itching, swelling, redness, and rash all over my body and face.
Doctors then gave a second antihistamine dose, but the rash persisted, so they administered a third steroid injection, which improved my condition. However, the doctors still advised close monitoring and recommended hospital admission.
My family insisted I rest at my accommodation to prepare for travel, and around midnight on 9 July (early 10 July), I returned to my room to continue treatment.
During this time, a pageant representative (ND) checked on my condition and assessed my readiness to travel, after which we jointly decided I would not travel as scheduled to allow full recovery.
Therefore, the travel date was postponed from 10 July 2026 to 12 July 2026.
Flight change costs were covered by my team, while the organizers covered baggage weight fees. The organizers arranged all flight tickets, and my team would pay them on travel day.
3. Regarding the pageant sponsors
I never received an official work schedule contracted by sponsors. Whenever there was a pageant-related event requiring my participation, I attended and cooperated fully.
Therefore, I do not understand what issue the organizers have with me regarding this matter.
4. Readiness to travel to the competition
My team and I were still ready to travel even after the organizers announced my dismissal on the night of Saturday, 11 July 2026.
Later, on Sunday, 12 July 2026, a third party (a mediator trying to resolve the issue after the dismissal announcement) contacted me with a condition that I livestream with them to apologize about the passport and clarify various accusations made against me.
5. Regarding the apology
I can apologize, but I need to know first what specific offenses the organizers cited in the dismissal letter, which states: “There were acts that violated the pageant’s rules, regulations, and conditions, including providing false information to the organization, constituting a serious breach of the titleholder’s obligations, resulting in inability to continue representing Thailand.”
I do not understand which actions of mine this refers to or what offenses I committed. I genuinely do not know what the organizers want me to apologize for.
If an apology is needed, I am willing to apologize and accept responsibility if I have indeed done wrong.
However, if the offenses are recurring and deemed inappropriate by the organizers, they should have issued warnings or informed me beforehand to allow me to acknowledge and correct them.
Nonetheless, if I did not commit any wrongdoing and do not know the exact reasons for my dismissal, I feel this is unfair to me.”
