Candy Rakkan Opens Up Tearfully About 44 Million Baht Loss: Lessons from Being Cheated and Losing Everything

Following Peck and Tanya's discussion on a popular show about their failed business with close associates, which resulted in damages of 83 million baht, and their decision not to sue but instead to repay debts for friends, Candy confirmed this was true. She said she was also a victim in this case, along with Tanya and Peck, who invested together believing the business had potential but ultimately had to cover their friends' debts.

Candy told Thairath Entertainment that she used to be a more cheerful person, but after being cheated in the business, she essentially lost everything. When asked if she was financially ruined, she acknowledged this was the case.

(Many have questioned whether the 44 million baht loss is too large.) Candy explained that the 44 million baht was money she had earned throughout her life—from singing, selling goods, engaging in real estate trading, and working nonstop to save this sum. When starting the business, she carefully considered it, initially investing a small amount. As the business showed potential, it involved buying and selling, functioning as revolving capital through 3 to 4 cycles. Everything seemed transparent and clear until the final cycle when problems arose.

She added that she still hasn't found the exact cause of the problem. In the last cycle, customers came in, and the business owner claimed imports were necessary, requiring a larger investment. Candy viewed this as a 30-day capital turnover. Since she trusted Peck and Tanya, who invested alongside her, she felt confident.

Afterwards, an error occurred. The business owner claimed it was an internal mistake that hadn't yet been audited. Candy paid debts for a friend she had invited to invest 7 million baht. She decided to mortgage her house to pay the business owner both principal and interest on time without issue. However, the owner told others that Candy was a victim who hadn't received repayment, which confused her as she had all the evidence and had never negotiated otherwise. Candy questioned if business failures require only repaying principal. She still entrusted the business owner because she wanted to maintain good relations. Meanwhile, the owner spoke negatively about Candy.

(How did she invest 44 million baht?) Candy said she invested gradually, starting with a seven-figure sum, which seemed worthwhile. She admitted that this was her mistake and that she disappeared for a full year due to depression. She had tried to suppress her feelings to avoid others knowing.

Investing 44 million baht and incurring another 12 million baht debt to repay friends, Candy openly described it as a "rose" from joint investment with friends but called it a great learning experience, like earning four doctoral degrees. Now, she is much more cautious when entering any partnership.

Candy opened up about her mother, who has always stood by her side. When her mother said, "I have always known," it made Candy feel grateful. At her lowest point, when she felt she no longer wanted to live, the house—built for her mother—was mortgaged. Candy checked the conditions to see if the house would be lost if she were no longer alive. The moment was truly heavy because it was not just one problem; it was more than anyone could bear.
