Mik Thongraya Complains! Energy Crisis Drives Lime Prices Up Threefold, Vows to Keep Noodle Prices the Same

Everyone is truly affected, with all professions suffering hardships, just like this young leading actor. Mik Thongraya. After opening the Tom Yum noodle shop "Bai Yor" for only one year, he now faces this energy crisis, wiping sweat from his brow. Looking back, on 28 Mar 2025, the first day he opened the shop, there was a major earthquake in our country. Then on 28 Mar 2026, the shop's first anniversary, he again faced this economic and energy crisis. Mik candidly shared this with Thairath Entertainment.

Has the energy crisis affected you?

Oh, it has affected us a lot. Our shop is a Tom Yum noodle place, and the main ingredient is lime. Previously, we bought a sack for 700 baht, but now it’s soared to 1,800 baht. We have to grit our teeth and continue selling at the same price, without reducing ingredients or raising prices.

If the economy doesn’t improve,

we’ll have to discuss it again. At that point, if only lime prices are high, we can manage. But if pork and other ingredients also increase in price, we might have to adjust prices. One quick decision I made was to postpone opening a new branch at Khao Yai. We had the space ready, but given the current economy, we decided to shelve the project for now.
