The anniversary of the passing of Luk Thung Queen Phum Phuang Duangchan is approaching. Every year, a memorial event is held at Wat Thap Kradan in Suphanburi Province featuring performances, lighting, and sound, with many Luk Thung artists gathering for concerts. However, a controversy arose when Ong Salakjit Duangchan, the younger sister of Mae Phueng, posted a video on her social media showing that the statue of Mae Phueng Phum Phuang located in the riverside pavilion at Wat Thap Kradan was splashed with scented water and powder by tourists, damaging the traditional Thai costume worn by the statue. Recently, Ong Salakjit spoke exclusively to Thairath Entertainment about this issue.
"During the recent Songkran festival, it seems some people wanted to invite P' Phueng to play in the water (laughs). Honestly, when I saw the statue's condition, I was quite angry because I regretted the costume. The tailor made it with great care and intricate hand embroidery, detailing every part. Overall, it cost hundreds of thousands. At first, I didn't know about it, but it felt like P' Phueng inspired me to visit Wat Thap Kradan, and eventually, I found out the statue was that badly damaged. To those who leave negative comments: if you can't comment positively, don't comment at all because it's pointless."
