After revealing that she underwent her fourth facial cosmetic surgery due to previous complications that affected her confidence in singing engagements and subjected her to bullying over fluid accumulation on her chin, recently on 01 Apr 2026, Mae Banyen Rakkan, known as the Queen of Mor Lam, held her annual major teacher worship ceremony at home and spoke openly in an interview with Thairath Entertainment.
How is your new face?
It's been a month and a half, almost two months now. I haven't felt any pain because of the anesthesia, and even during recovery, there was no pain. The doctor was very gentle (laughs).
Is this surgery different from the others?
This time, I intended to make it beautiful and age-appropriate. I'm over 70 years old, so I didn't want it to be excessive. Being able to visit temples and feel satisfied is enough.
Are you going to fully return to Mor Lam singing?
(Performing Mor Lam) At first, I thought I couldn’t manage anymore because of my age. When I was ill, my voice got worse and shaky, so I retired. But now I’m strong again and returning. I believe my live singing voice is ready for the stage. I’ll perform as much as I can. I miss my fans and want to meet them.
How do you take care of yourself? Your voice is still clear.
Actually, I had diabetes. I went to the doctor regularly, took medication, and had monthly check-ups. My sugar levels are normal now. I’m lucky to have sought medical care early, so I recovered quickly.
What about your diet control?
I’m very careful with eating. I avoid too much sticky rice because it turns into sugar. I focus on chili paste and vegetables, and I have mackerel and catfish flakes. Eating this way keeps me from gaining weight. I want all parents and siblings to take good care of their health. I ask fans to look forward to Mae Banyen Rakkan’s comeback.
