The young leading actor Ryu Wachirawit After enlisting to serve in the military under 2nd Army Area Command, Military Circle 15, last April, which surprised and earned praise from many.
Recently, Ryu opened up about his reasons for enlisting, saying there are two. The first is a decision he made around age 16 because he did not attend the regular system that offers Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) courses (he studied through the Non-Formal Education system). From then, he envisioned someday wanting to become a soldier, seeing it as something every man should experience at least once in life.
The second reason, which brings a smile, is that as a child he enjoyed watching military-themed dramas, especially “Captain Yod Rak” and “The Cheerful Battalion,” which sparked his curiosity about real army life and motivated him to experience it firsthand.
“To say it humorously (smiles), I liked watching dramas like ‘Captain Yod Rak’ and ‘The Cheerful Battalion’ and such. Being a soldier is something you do once in a lifetime. It involves training and exercise. I also feel it will be an experience I can share with friends and tell my children about,” he said.
What was once a childhood dream is now becoming reality. He is currently training and preparing to enlist this November in Phetchaburi province, determined to perform his duties to the best of his ability.
