The South Korean entertainment industry was shocked when news broke that the popular actress and singer IU and the leading actor Lee Jong-suk have ended their romantic relationship.
According to the South Korean news website Soompi, on 10 July 2026 GMT+7, IU's agency EDAM Entertainment and Lee Jong-suk's agency ACE FACTORY both confirmed, "It is true that they have broken up," adding that they have decided to remain good colleagues moving forward.
This breakup comes after a relationship lasting more than four years, with IU and Lee Jong-suk first confirming their dating status in 2022.
Currently, IU is preparing a new album and concert, while Lee Jong-suk is preparing for the broadcast of the new series "The Remarried Empress," set to air on Disney+ in the second half of 2026.
