The International Fencing Federation (FIE) has announced the appointment of Jackson Wang, a global artist, entrepreneur, and former youth Olympic fencer, as the organization's first-ever Global Ambassador.
Before entering the entertainment industry, Jackson was a national fencer for Hong Kong, making history by winning the gold medal in men's sabre at the Asian Youth Fencing Championships—the first gold for Hong Kong in this event. He also claimed multiple national titles and was ranked No. 1 in Asia in men's sabre under-17 category. Additionally, he was on the path to qualify for the London Olympics, demonstrating his high athletic potential before deciding to fully pursue a music career.
Currently, Jackson serves as the first Global Ambassador in the history of the International Fencing Federation (FIE). He will lead efforts to raise global awareness of fencing ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games (LA28). Acting as a representative of fencing on the international stage, he will promote key FIE competitions and participate in Olympic-related events throughout the journey to LA28. This role goes beyond a typical ambassador position; it bridges sport, culture, art, and the passing on of inspiration, based on the shared belief that fencing can motivate young people worldwide.
Jackson was officially introduced as Global Ambassador during a signing ceremony at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, the venue for the FIE Senior World Championships 2026, held from 22 to 30 July, at a press conference.
He said, “Although I ultimately chose the path of music, fencing has always been a part of my life. As Global Fencing Ambassador, my mission is to bring that same energy back to the sport, representing all athletes on the road to LA28. I want young people around the world to see that whether you choose a sabre or a microphone, you can follow your dreams.”
Tracing his journey from fencer to global artist, Jackson grew up in an athletic family—his father was a two-time Olympic fencer and his mother a former Chinese national gymnastics athlete. He began training in sabre fencing at age 10 and represented Hong Kong at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. He also won multiple national and international championships as a teenager and was on track to compete at the 2012 London Olympics before transitioning into a global music career.
Today, Jackson has achieved international success in music and fashion, with a unique ability to connect music, fashion, and youth culture worldwide. He continues to redefine what it means to be a global artist.
