Chillingly Hilarious Pop Dib Dib Revives the Legendary Pop Yip After 14 Years with Star-Studded Gala

It’s a year-end phenomenon of hilarious horror as Pichet Productions, a dynamic new film company, shakes up the Thai movie scene with a highly anticipated project. They hosted a gala premiere for their blockbuster film "Pop Dib Dib," a comedy-horror-action movie that has caused a stir even before its release. The film features “Mae Noi” Nutnee Sitthisaman, the veteran actress famous for the legendary "Pop Yip," a character deeply remembered by Thai audiences and fans eagerly awaiting her return to dash through jars and snatch fresh livers after 14 years. This event guarantees the film is no mere gimmick but a rightful reclaiming of the throne for Thai horror-comedy ghosts.

The gala premiere on the evening of 23 December at the Sky Lobby, CentralWorld, 8th floor cinema zone, was transformed into a spooky mysterious village. Iconic Thai ghost movie displays like jars, spirit shrines, and chilling elements immersed guests from the first step, creating a “horrifically hilarious” experience before the official screening. The event was more than just a film launch; it was a grand gathering of the entertainment world led by director and Pichet Productions head “Pa Ko” Pichet Sriracha, alongside a full cast including Warakorn Sawatsakorn, Natcha Ratchayangkanon, Phulpat Atthapanyaphon, Atsanai Testhawong, Rawan Tonahongsa, Tua Ra Chernyim, and many more.

The loudest cheers almost shaking the mall came from the surprise appearance of the era’s hottest school football team, “Monthong Wittaya,” who joined as guest actors and walked the event. Fans flocked to secure front-row spots eagerly. Additionally, the venue was transformed into a runway welcoming top artists, actors, celebrities, and influencers such as Saksit Thaengthong, Kongkapan Saengsuriyah, Santirat Kulnopkiat, Hana Lewis, and Panichda Saengsuwan, all gathering enthusiastically to celebrate and test their nerves with the film’s chills. This event truly assembled the heavyweights of the industry.

“Pop Dib Dib” marks the directorial debut of “Pa Ko” Pichet Sriracha, a skilled action director from television who ventures into cinema by blending thrilling action with the classic charm of Thai horror-comedy. The film resurrects the legend of fright amid quirky characters and puzzling cursed symbols like the monk carrying a dog and the nun carrying a cat, promising laughs that will leave you in stitches.

Let’s see if this still-living legend will make you laugh until your jaw drops or scare you to the bone. Coming together on 31 December in cinemas across Thailand and Laos.
