Reviving the Frenzied Omukade: Puen and Toey Employ Various Techniques and CGI to Create a Giant Centipede Demon

Just three weeks after releasing the first trailer, the thriller-action film "Omukade...โอมุคาเดะ," directed by Puen-Pakpoom Wongjinda and Toey-Chalit Krailermongkol of Fatcat Studios, has exceeded expectations with over 2.9 million views. Recently, "Neramitnakorn Film" in collaboration with "Chaisaeng Adventure" promptly released the full trailer to excite action-thriller fans. The cast includes Yada-Narilaya Kulmongkolphet, accomplished Burmese actor Daung, Thai-Japanese national hockey player Hideki Nakayama, along with famous Japanese influencer Ryota Moisjer and Pu-Yasaka Chaisorn.

The full trailer of "Omukade" takes viewers back to the World War II era, revealing the imagination of directors Puen-Pakpoom and Toey from Fatcat, who aim to revive the legendary giant centipede yokai spirit to fully satisfy monster movie fans. Its outward appearance is horrifying and dangerous, with an aggressive nature capable of violently attacking intruders in various ways.

Puen-Pakpoom said, "As mentioned, Japan has yokai—monsters of Japanese folklore. We used them as a reference for how this creature transforms. We didn’t copy them exactly but also wanted to preserve their original essence while adding our own imagination. For example, what would its facial features look like? What would its nest look like?"

Toey-Chalit revealed, "Our challenge was how to make people fear this monster and how to design it so actors would be afraid when on set. For this film, we combined CGI with particle effects. We also used mockups with real blood on set for the actors to see firsthand. I avoided using pure CGI. We designed techniques specifically to suit this film. This is among the first Thai films to blend CGI with mockups. Omukade is a traditional demon legend that can also disguise itself within a human body. We had to create a unique monster concept, adding special details to make it memorable. This Omukade version is original, like imagining what an alien might look like. I studied the nature of centipedes, folklore, and similar creatures—how they live and their life cycles in caves."
