This marks another important step in the acting career of talented leading man Phon Nawasut Phoophanthachsee, who admits this is the "heaviest role of his life" in the film Phra Mai, a horror-investigation movie that intensely combines belief and science.
Phon Nawasut said, “I play Ek, a police officer who is serious about his work and trusts evidence and science more than beliefs. In his family storyline, he is a man afraid of his father and carries emotional scars. Brother Bee is like my real father; I truly fear him every time we shoot scenes together. Because he is an experienced actor, it makes me genuinely believe he is my father. As for Mukda, we had never worked together before but felt comfortable. We share similar ways of thinking and can communicate in the same direction, partly because we are the same age. Our scenes are not romantically sweet but show a mature relationship where we support each other as partners and friends in every way.”
When I was first approached to join Phra Mai, I was confused about what ‘Phra Mai’ meant, so I quickly researched it and learned it refers to a type of sacred amulet from Northeastern Thailand. The film has a spooky, eerie, and mysterious element, and we filmed in the Northeast. When I arrived, I felt the sacred atmosphere, especially with the props—real Phra Mai amulets—which gave me chills every time I passed by. Seeing the effects was truly chilling because they did a great job. I would like to ask everyone to support the film Phra Mai. It is a horror-investigation movie in a new style that you’ve never seen before. Please encourage the cast and crew. Prepare to be challenged and tested. On 19 March, it will awaken every fear in theaters.”
