"Tiger Howls, Dragon Yawns" is set in Yaowarat in 1947, a time when Chinese and Thai communities lived together harmoniously, conducting business with goodwill. Afoo (Mum Jokmok), his wife Ah Lian (Sunaree Ratchasima), and their son Yuan (Cake-Natthakorn) run a rickshaw business here. Their close friend Ah Long (Jaturong Photharam) and his daughter Hong (Nurse-Chanidapa) operate a pharmacy shop. Their peaceful life is disrupted when Ah Hai (Diao-Chupong), the leader of a dark gang, seeks to evict locals to make way for a grey-market investor to open a gambling den in Yaowarat. Ah Hai often bullies residents using his Chinese martial arts skills. As troubles mount, a secret that Afoo has kept hidden—even from his own son Yuan—is revealed.
