Get ready to count down to a new chapter in the legendary love story “Wanthong's Two Hearts,” where this time she rises to fight and change the toxic fate of her love in the film “The Miracle of Wanthong.” This is the first movie from Black Dragon Entertainment, starring Ink Waruntorn Paonil, Mark Prin Suparat, and Gulf Kanawut Tripeepatpong, along with Primmy Wiphawee Patnasiri and Fay Pat Aeksangkul. It is directed by Muk Piyakan Butprasert.
For this project, Black Dragon Entertainment has released five character posters emphasizing intense action, reinventing the classic literature like never before. The most intense trailer of “The Miracle of Wanthong” not only plunges viewers into the literary world to witness Wanthong's new fate but also reveals a production that perfectly blends period and fantasy elements. The collage artist Tod Nakrob Moolmanas serves as the production designer, overseeing the entire production design. From a simple A4 script crafted by director Muk Piyakan, it has transformed into a wondrous visual story woven onto the film.
Tod Nakrob Moolmanas said, “This film spans many eras, starting with sci-fi elements, including both present and various past times, reaching back to Ayutthaya. All the scenes in Khun Chang Khun Phaen and the fantasy battlefields created by P’Muk required the art team to interpret what color tones would suit this world and where to keep realistic touches, reflecting the history we have learned. We aimed to present fresh visuals that allow viewers to connect with Thai culture in a new way that P’Muk wants to convey. We conducted research, developed key visuals, designed sets, and collaborated with costume and prop departments to create a believable world. It was quite a lengthy process.”
“A major challenge in this project was that it was a group effort. We were very fortunate that the leader, P’Muk, had a clear and determined vision, which made teamwork easier. As everyone knows, Khun Chang Khun Phaen has been told since the Ayutthaya era and is ingrained in the hearts of people across generations. There are many versions—stories, paintings, stage plays, films, or series. One difficulty was how to present something old that has been retold hundreds or thousands of times in a new way that still captivates people. Certainly, the heart of Khun Chang Khun Phaen is the human relationships and love triangles that move audiences emotionally. We asked ourselves how to infuse this emotional impact with contemporary colors and make it feel fresh rather than boring. In this version, the director, I, and many team members discussed delivering images that are unique and never seen or heard before. The challenge was finding the middle ground on how it should look.” the production designer explained.
