Before creating the new world for "Wanthong" in the film "Wonder Wanthong" by Black Dragon Entertainment, director Muk Piyakan Butprasert and a team of skilled professionals collaborated to craft a multi-dimensional marvel, making "Wonder Wanthong" one of the most anticipated films of the year.
Starting with the "Marvelous Locations," filming took place across seven provinces: Bangkok, Suphanburi, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. A key scene of Khun Chang fighting a man-headed fish at sea was shot on location at Khao Pab Pa in Nakhon Si Thammarat—a rock formation resembling folded fabric. This geological feature exists in only two places worldwide: here and on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island.
The "Marvelous Battle Shawl" worn by Wanthong in the war scene was inspired by Khun Chang's armor. Director Muk Piyakan enlisted the internationally acclaimed Thai brand PIPATCHARA to design a new battle shawl for Wanthong, which even bears her name engraved on it.
The "Marvelous Cinematography" includes a must-watch scene where a magical rice spell is cast. Although filmed in a single shot, two top Thai cinematographers, Mr. Sibarn Narupol Chokkanapitak and Ms. Ying Niramol Ross, directed the filming using camera movement techniques to create the effect of a long take.
The "Marvelous Recitation" scene features recitation not by typical singers but by winners of the "Khun Phror Chuay" recitation contest, with the performance adapted into a contemporary style.
The "Marvelous Craftsmanship" aspect highlights the film's attention to visual detail. The team collaborated with Moolmanus, a renowned collage artist known for production design, who helped design fantasy scenes and ancient artifacts, including Khun Phaen's horse saddle and regalia. The crew sought out craftsmen experienced from working on "Naresuan" to assist with these items. Fabrics were carefully selected by instructors from Silpakorn University, and royal cuisine was overseen by experts from Dusit. Every element of "Wonder Wanthong's" world was meticulously designed.
The "Marvelous Execution Grounds" involved a team of executioners trained in traditional sword dance techniques passed down through generations from a sword dance school.
