20-year-old rising Japanese singer-songwriter Rol3ert has released his highly anticipated sixth digital single, "frozen," which was composed as the official theme song for GLOBAL WORK's new clothing campaign. As his first advertising song, this release marks an important milestone in his rapidly growing career as an artist.
The single is available worldwide on major streaming platforms, accompanied by a music video set to premiere on YouTube on 21 Nov 2025 at 22:00 Japan time. Rol3ert will also host a special Instagram Live event at 21:30 Japan time, just before the music video launch.
The year 2025 has been highly significant for Rol3ert. Since debuting with the song "meaning" in January, his first solo acoustic show at Daikanyama SPACE ODD sold out completely. He also performed at the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and SWEET LOVE SHOWER, and won the Best Breakthrough Artist award at the Tokyo Alter Music Award 2025.
His new single, "frozen," not only depicts winter as a season but also expresses memories, wounds, and quiet wishes. It opens with Rol3ert's distinctive low, husky voice, almost a whisper that feels like someone speaking through the cold night air—then expands into distorted guitar and dry drum sounds leading into an emotional soaring chorus. The closing line, "but i hope you’re doing fine," feels like an unsent message.
The song was primarily produced by Rol3ert and mixed/mastered by Hinata Kashiwai (Bigfish Sounds), known for work with NOT WONK, the HIATUS, and SHISHAMO. The track offers an intimate, warm analog feel, reinforcing his evolving identity as a songwriter with clear emotional depth and cinematic qualities in his work.
Beyond Japan, Rol3ert has gained growing support from listeners across Southeast Asia. Recent covers by Regina Song (903K views) and Bernadya (837K views), released around the time of their TIMM performances, have nearly reached one million views each. This has sparked enthusiastic responses from audiences in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore, with comments reflecting an expanding new listener base in the region discovering him.
As Southeast Asia continues to embrace Japanese artists and emotionally driven pop music, "frozen" positions Rol3ert as one of the new generation artists connecting deeply with youth in this region.
The music video presents Rol3ert in a stark black-and-white style, symbolizing a young artist caught between innocence and adulthood. It also features his first full-band performance, hinting at the musical direction of his next era. Expectations have risen since his surprise live performance in August attracted international attention by showcasing an unreleased song.
Rol3ert is set to return to the stage on 27 Feb 2026 with his first full-band headline show, "katachi," at Shibuya WWW X. Tickets are now available for purchase.
