JAZZ COMBO Jazz Band Shines Globally with Extended Engagement at LA LA LAND IN CONCERT

This marks a gathering of elite jazz musicians from the College of Music at Mahidol University under the band JAZZ COMBO, who earned global recognition at the first-ever LA LA LAND IN CONCERT held in Thailand on 2-3 November 2024. They played a crucial role in the musical drive of the event, which was the first to feature a full orchestra combined with a 100-member choir. The ensemble performed almost the entire jazz soundtrack live. Participation required passing multiple selection stages, and only musicians with full potential were nominated and had their profiles submitted for this collaboration.

JAZZ COMBO comprises instruments such as piano, drums, bass, guitar, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, and keyboard. Members include the exceptional jazz pianist Drin Panthumkomol, known as Ajarn Joe; bassist Noppadon Thiratharadorn, or Ajarn Long, whose bass lines serve as a driving force that strengthens the band's sound; and drummer Saruti Vijitvechakarn, or Ajarn Kai, whose timing perfectly matches every film detail. These three also lead their own band, Pomelo Town, one of Thailand's most distinctive and lively jazz groups.

Next is trumpeter Surasee Chankasukul, or Ajarn On, who delivered a jaw-dropping solo at the film's finale and serves as Principal Trumpet of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO). Trombonist Suttipong Maihnaikit, or Ajarn Pong, adds rich harmony and currently holds the position of Principal Trombone in TPO while also teaching. Guitarist Juthamas Saisang, or Ajarn Kwang, known for several acoustic guitar solos in the film, teaches jazz guitar at Mahidol. Keyboardist Kanokpak Changwitchukan, or Ajarn Gim, performs a key solo scene in the story and is a lecturer at the College of Music, Mahidol University, a TPO musician, and runs the GIMIX STUDIO page. Finally, saxophonist Montkanes Siripaphassorn, or Ajarn Ass, has collaborated with many top Thai bands and artists.

These Thai artists have earned international acclaim, performing extensively in countries including Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. LA LA LAND IN CONCERT continues to receive invitations to perform worldwide. You can also see them at the grandest jazz event of the year, the 17th Thailand International Jazz Conference 2026 (TIJC 2026), from 23-25 January 2026 at the College of Music, Mahidol University, where world-class jazz artists will offer an exhilarating musical experience unlike any other.
