After a 4-year hiatus from releasing his own music, Golf Pitchaya Nithipaisankul returns with a new single, “Mary Jane (Marry Me),” a passionate love song that he fully composed and wrote himself. It expresses the straightforward feelings of someone wanting to ask their partner, “Will you marry me? I want to wake up to you every morning.”
Golf shared about his return to music: “Honestly, I’ve been holding back for a long time—4 years without seriously picking up the mic. I really missed singing! This comeback isn’t casual; I was fully involved in every step—from writing the lyrics and melody to creating the plot and directing the MV myself. Since I’m a huge Spider-Man nerd, when making a passionate love song, I thought of the phrase ‘Spider-Man still has Mary Jane... just like I have the leading lady in my life.’ So I played with the name Mary Jane and the phrase Marry Me, which rhymes nicely. It turned into a feel-good, nerdy-romantic proposal song inspired by my own experiences. If anyone wants to use it for their wedding after-party, you’re welcome (laughs). As for my good news, that’s something for the future—stay tuned and enjoy the song first.”
For this comeback, Golf chose a Funk Pop sound—easy to listen to, catchy, and full of energy that invites live performance, especially in the Pre-Hook and Hook sections which are key parts of the song. This is another love song that’s fun, playful, and filled with Golf’s style of passionate love. The music video’s concept is “Falling in love... on doomsday.”
It tells an Action-Romantic-Comedy story of a young man who falls in love at first sight with a woman and decides to brave dangers in a dystopian world filled with alien species to propose to her. It ends with an uplifting message: on the day the world is about to end, having each other is enough. The MV uniquely blends live-action footage with AI-created animation based on a story written by Golf Pitchaya, presented in an Action-Romantic style with dystopian vibes.
Additionally, parts of the story were inspired by Golf’s real life with his girlfriend, who each had a corgi before they met. The MV concludes with an End Credit tribute to “Fila,” Golf’s beloved dog who recently passed away, adding a touching moment for animal lovers.
