After a four-year hiatus from releasing his own music, Golf Pichaya Nithipaisalkul returns to the mic with the new single “Mary Jane (Marry Me),” a passionate love song he composed and wrote entirely by himself. It conveys the straightforward feeling of wanting to tell his loved one, “Will you marry me? I want to wake up next to you every morning.”
Golf shared about his return to music: “Honestly, I’ve been holding this in for a long time—four years without seriously holding a mic. I really missed singing! So this comeback isn’t casual; I went all out on nearly every step—from writing lyrics and composing melodies to plotting and directing the music video myself. Being a hardcore Spider-Man nerd, when I wanted to make a passionate love song, I thought of the phrase ‘Spider-Man still has Mary Jane... just like I have the leading lady in my life.’ So I played on the name Mary Jane with the phrase 'Marry Me'—it sounds catchy and clever. The result is a feel-good proposal song in my own Nerd+Romantic style. A little secret: I wrote it from my own experiences. Anyone wanting to use it for their wedding after-party, you’re welcome (laughs). As for good news about me, that’s for the future—let’s wait and see while enjoying the song first.”
For this comeback, Golf chose a Funk Pop sound that’s easy to listen to, catchy, and full of energy that makes you want to watch a live show—especially the pre-hook and hook sections, which are key parts of the song. It’s another love song that’s fun, playful, and filled with Golf’s unique brand of passionate love. The music video’s concept is “Falling in Love… on Doomsday,” telling an Action-Romantic-Comedy story of a man who falls for a woman at first sight and decides to brave dangers in a dystopian world filled with alien species to propose to her. It ends with a feel-good message: even if the world is about to collapse, having each other is enough. The MV uniquely blends live-action filming with AI-created visuals based on a story written by Golf Pichaya, presented in an Action-Romantic animation style with dystopian elements. Additionally, parts of the story were inspired by Golf and his girlfriend’s real lives, both having cared for corgi dogs before they met. The end credits include a tribute to “Nong Fila,” Golf’s beloved dog who recently passed away, adding a touching moment for animal lovers.
