After recently debuting with the SPICYDISC label, the band MAKARA—comprising members Q (Makara Dolsuklert, lead vocalist and guitarist), Off (Yanapon Viboonwitayanun, bassist), and Max (Thakorn Anyapanon, drummer)—has released their new single "YONGSONG." This song tells the story of secret admiration in a straightforward yet playful way, with the catchy phrase "I like you" becoming a memorable hook. The neo-Mor Lam style highlights the distinctive sound of three instruments, blending indie vibes with colorful local influences. Q wrote the lyrics and produced the track, using simple, accessible words to make the theme of falling in love fun. The band members (Q, Off, Max) arranged the music, creating a clear MAKARA style that makes this love song easy to listen to while fully capturing the "YONGSONG" mood. The music video invites viewers into the atmosphere of a social gathering at a restaurant, where an unexpected event occurs at the end, adding intrigue. MAKARA shared their excitement about working with Spicydisc: "Hello, we are MAKARA. We feel very excited and grateful that Spicydisc has embraced a wide musical freedom, allowing us to collaborate. Our first single, 'YONGSONG,' is one of the initial songs where we wanted to emphasize the neo-Mor Lam style clearly, incorporating the familiar rhythm 'dung dung dung dung.' After our album 'Ngong Ngong,' a time when many people supported us and took us to various places, including the KEXP show, where more people got to know us, we drew inspiration from our travels to create a cheeky love song in our own style. The name 'Yong Song' doesn’t have a complicated meaning; it captures the feeling of sneaking and anticipation, wondering what will happen next. We intentionally minimized the sound to just three instruments to keep it simple and highlight each member's character. This song is also the starting point of our new album.
