After Golf Fukkling Hero, Violette Wautier, and Twopee performed the song 1% at the 33rd SEA Games opening ceremony held at Rajamangala National Stadium on 9 Dec 2025 GMT+7. Thailand was the host, but a controversy arose over off-key singing.
In response, Golf Fukkling Hero posted an explanation stating they were briefed to lip-sync 100% due to various limitations. However, during the show, they could not hear themselves in their in-ear monitors, resulting in a mistake where the live microphone was turned on during the live broadcast, causing the singing to sound off-key. He defended Violette and Twopee, emphasizing their sincere effort to perform for the nation, but regretted the error that affected their professional image. As the person who brought them to perform, he sincerely apologized to them and to the audience, adding that they truly gave their best.
“I just saw the live broadcast where the microphone was turned on during the 1% song performance, even though during rehearsals we were briefed that due to many restrictions, this show would be 100% lip-synced.
Therefore, on stage, the artists could not hear their own voices in the earpieces because the microphones were muted. This explains why Violette Wautier's vocals during the live broadcast were off, as she couldn’t hear herself, and similarly, Twopee's voice was delayed at times because he also couldn’t hear himself.
But if you were in the stadium audience, you would have heard all the vocals normally, because the microphones were not live and lip-syncing was followed as briefed.
I do not know exactly where the mistake happened, but the live performance sound in the stadium was not communicated to the outside broadcast (OB) team, resulting in the live microphones being turned on only for the broadcast. This caused the performance, which was supposed to be fully lip-synced as planned, to be heard live on air. I sympathize greatly with Violette and Twopee, who intended to perform for their country but ended up with a mistake that affected their professional image.
Both of them were very dedicated. Please do not blame them for this error. As their senior and the person who brought them to perform, I sincerely apologize to them and to the audience if the incident caused any disappointment. We all truly gave our best. #33rdSEA Games”
