After the actress Mew Sirilapas Kongtakarn was elected as a Member of Parliament for Bangkok under the Prachachon Party and served for over two years, she has pushed for various bills, including the Sexual Harassment Act, the Labor Protection Act, and initiatives to enhance mental health care from childhood through old age.
Recently, Mew Sirilapas posted her farewell on Instagram @sirilapas_pple, sharing work moments and writing: “To the sovereign people, throughout my more than two years as a representative, I have been honored and proud of every vote and trust given to me. I have dedicated myself to working sincerely and wholeheartedly for the people.”
“I served on the special committee reviewing the draft amendment of the Criminal Code (Sexual Harassment Act), and the special committee on the Labor Protection Act, advocating for menstrual leave and family care leave rights, hoping these laws will soon be passed by the parliament.”
“I also served on the Public Health Committee and established a subcommittee to study ways to improve mental health services for all age groups, from children to the elderly. The report has been completed, marking a significant milestone in my efforts to promote this issue through multiple parliamentary debates.”
“I have brought the public’s problems into parliamentary mechanisms, including writing petitions, consultations, and complaints to committees.”
