Former veteran villain actor Oat Worawut Niyomsub Announced the sale of assets via social media amid fans' concern about the reasons behind selling his possessions. Recently, he brought along his youngest son Nong Olaf to update on his life and reveal all life's storms on the program "Toh Noo Mam" on Workpoint Channel with host Pee Noo Mam Surivipa, including his current status as a full-time single father raising his sons Olaf and Olof alone.
Is the announcement about selling land and assets causing a stir?
"These are lands I bought a long time ago when prices were low, about 10 years ago. Now is a difficult time. You can contact me via my inbox. In Cha-am, I have four plots near the sea along Phetkasem Road—three on the sea side and one on the mountain side. It’s a 10-minute drive to the town and 10 minutes to the beach. I’m also selling land at Khao Yai, Moo 4. I’m in debt, so I’m selling to pay it off. That land is one rai and very suitable for a vacation home."
Are you selling to reduce your debt burden?
"Yes, it’s mainly about the financial burden. Previously, taxes in Cha-am weren’t this high, but now the taxes have become heavy. It’s also costly to hire people to maintain the land, plant and water trees — it's a lot. I’m also planning to sell the hotel in Buriram, although recently it has been doing very well. I discussed it with my son, and he doesn’t want me to sell the hotel; he wants to keep it."
"So we planned to keep the hotel and sell parts of the land in Cha-am that we can, to use the money to pay the bank. When building the hotel, I borrowed part of the money from the bank, added some of my own and some from my ex-partner Linda — three parts combined to build the Buriram hotel. Now I’m not selling the hotel but choosing to sell other assets."
What have you sold before?
"Previously, I sold a detached house, cars, buildings, and condos. (What about the cliff-side restaurant Lapin in Pattaya?) The cliff-side restaurant was sold earlier this year. Linda had to sell it to divide inheritance because her mother passed away. So, the property was sold to share among siblings. We no longer operate it; everything has been cleared out."
Where do you and your children live now?
"The three of us live in a small condominium. I am a full-time single father, 100 percent raising my children alone. I cook in the morning, take the kids to school, pick them up in the evening, and put them to bed — this is our daily routine. I have been raising them without any nanny from the start."
Why did you decide to raise your children on your own?
"It’s a decision I made because I want to be with my children as they grow up. I want to be close to them so they will remember me."
Was it difficult to decide to sell each of these assets?
"Not difficult. I have been doing business since I was young, alongside my entertainment career. I opened pubs and restaurants and have been running them continuously, mostly at a loss, gaining experience. Life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes we must sacrifice some things to keep others that benefit our family or affect those who live with us. We have to accept it; otherwise, the burden is too heavy."
