Lydia: A Vital Source of Support for Ploy Chermarn, Standing by Her Even During Illness

She is another person who has stood by and encouraged Ploy Chermarn always. For Lydia Sarunrat, during a time of both physical and mental illness. Recently, Lydia attended an event at The Square, Bluport Hua Hin, featuring a special performance for guests. After the event, Lydia gave an interview saying,

"As we enter the Christmas and New Year season, there must be a Christmas tree. Today, I’m here to sing and also to celebrate Bluport’s 10th anniversary. Normally, I’m on concert stages, but this is my first time near a Christmas tree. I’m happy to see it—it’s very beautiful. I want to invite everyone to Bluport; they have arranged a lovely front area with many photo spots. It’s perfect for a trip with family to relax. With the long holiday approaching, please come visit a lot."

May I ask about Ploy Chermarn’s illness?

"I’ve known for a while now. She’s much better. Before, I went with her to see the doctor, for tests and treatments. She didn’t say much because she was afraid people would worry. But she’s passed the hardest part, and now she’s better—not so thin anymore, eating well, much improved."

Going back to when she lost a lot of weight and many people didn’t know she was ill, some said she was obsessed with being thin?

"At that time, there were rumors she lost weight because of a broken heart (laughs). But actually, she was ill and had multiple issues affecting her mental health simultaneously. It was a tough period for Ploy, but she’s better now."

Are you one of the friends who has stood by her and given support throughout?

"I’ve been by Ploy’s side through everything and will continue to be."

How did you help heal her emotionally?

"I was quite intense—I researched what it was exactly, how it happens, what kind, and how to treat it. I wanted to understand what we were facing so I could support her properly. She needed encouragement then. I think everyone gave her love and cared about her feelings. When she went out, we went together, which was good."

Support is crucial. Would you say Ploy has never lacked encouragement?

"Support and love from those around her—family and friends—are very important. It’s good that Ploy has so many people who love her. She’s a lovely person."

What about when the news came out about her breakup?

"That was a difficult time for her, quite a dark period, but she got through it well. She’s fine now."

When Ploy revealed her illness on a show, did it feel like a release of a secret?

"Actually, it’s a personal matter. She had to be ready to talk about it. My role was just to support her and be her friend, not to disclose details or say, 'Ploy is like this or that.' It’s her story, and we must respect that."

Has everything settled now?

"She has passed the toughest phase. Ploy is very strong-willed and very capable. She has overcome the hardest time."
