Fluke Aonam Shares Family Life, Settles Down in Nakhon Sawan Province

The legendary local rock band adored by many young women. Fluke Aonam The owner of the legendary hit "Love Someone Taken," now with a grown son who has started university, recently appeared with his youngest son, Funky, and his dear wife, Ann, to update on their lives through the "Toh Nu Mam" program on Workpoint channel with the leading host, Nu Mam Surivipa, recalling the past major news scandal about secretly having a child and their current lifestyle after relocating to live in a province.

May I ask if your two sons like singing or have inherited anything from you?

Fluke: "They can sing, but they prefer languages more. The older one can sing because when he was little, he used to come on stage with me. He was still very young then. But I don't know if they will choose this path when they grow up; it depends on them."

Where do you currently live primarily?

Fluke: "Right now, we live in Nakhon Sawan, the whole family. Our eldest son is currently at Chiang Mai University, just starting his first year."

Is he able to live there on his own?

Ann: "At first, he missed home and asked, 'What if I can't live here, Mom?' I told him, 'It's up to you.'"

Fluke: "But now he doesn't want to come back. He even called to say he might not return this New Year (laughs)."

Are you producing new music now?

Fluke: "I haven't disappeared; I'm still working continuously."

How do you balance work and family care?

Fluke: "It's normal. Nowadays, everything has changed. My target work is mainly at drinking and dining venues rather than clubs or pubs. My gigs are usually Thursday, Friday, and Saturday—just three days a week, which is manageable. But if there’s work, I take it all (laughs)."

How do you travel? Do you have a condo in Bangkok?

Fluke: "Yes, if there’s a concert outside Bangkok, I stay there for a while. If there’s work in Bangkok, I stay at the condo and wait. But I choose to live mainly in Nakhon Sawan. My son traveled two and a half hours from Nakhon Sawan to come record the show today."

Why did you choose to live in Nakhon Sawan?

Fluke: "I’m from Buriram, Ann is from Kamphaeng Phet, but I studied in Nakhon Sawan since I was a child. All my relatives, friends, and siblings live there. It’s also convenient for travel—not far at all."

Does your son prefer living in Bangkok or Nakhon Sawan?

Funky: "I like Nakhon Sawan better. I’ve lived in Bangkok and went around on my own—it’s so traffic jammed (laughs)."

Having a child young was a big deal; back then, it was huge news about secretly having your eldest child?

Fluke: "It was huge (laughs). Front page every day for seven days straight."

Ann: "Reporters even followed us home."

Fluke: "They came to our home after the press conference. At that time, the culture was to keep such news private. Since Ann was pregnant, I told Hia Hor right away. He said it was normal, natural, and to just take care of the family well. After a year, when our first child turned one, more people noticed and the news outlets started covering it. Hia Hor told me to just let them know, which was relieving. We never really hid it though. When the child was born, we lived in Bang Kapi, Nawamin—The Mall Bang Kapi staff all saw and played with the baby, but no one turned it into news."

It became very famous and a phenomenon, right?

Fluke: "Very famous, front page indeed. Luckily, Aonam was a mass provincial band, not a boy band with screaming fans, so we didn’t feel pressured. It was relaxed, and everyone still supported us, though there were some effects."
