Kong Huayrai Signs with Gene Lab, Shares Reasons for Joining the Label

After the famous singer Kong Huayrai decided to sign a contract with Gene Lab, a label under GMM Grammy, managed by Ohm Panthapol Pranraratkij or Ohm Cocktail, before releasing his first single “Dok Krajeaw Ban,” which has now reached 18 million views.

Recently, Kong Huayrai posted photos from a Cocktail concert where he was a guest, and explained why he chose to sign with Gene Lab: “My decision to sign as an artist with Gene Lab wasn’t because I wanted fame or a hit song, nor to elevate my status. I just wanted to be close to this man.”

Then Kong Huayrai posted a photo paying respect to Ohm, sharing how they first met: “Jai said he really wanted me to meet Ohm, so one day we arranged to have dinner at a restaurant. We talked about many things, and I just stared at this man in amazement, wondering if his brain was human or a computer because he had so much knowledge. Also, he only speaks truth; if he’s unsure about something, he says he needs to check the facts first. He opened my world. My life.

After that, Ohm invited me to a label party. I went with Nong Bell, knowing almost no one except Four-Mod, Jai, and Ohm, whom I’d met just once. At a venue full of label staff, I gathered courage to go on stage and sing a popular song, which impressed everyone. People even asked to take photos together, even those not affiliated with the label.

When the label posted pictures on social media, fans commented, hoping I was joining the label. The comments grew, and many teased me. So, I messaged Ohm, though we weren’t close, saying, “Brother, may I stay with you?”

Ohm agreed. He was probably wondering, "What’s this guy up to?"

After signing the contract, I got closer to Ohm. Though our ages are only a few years apart, I deeply trust this man without reservation. As an independent artist with many staff, when I did wrong or was at a loss, no one dared to challenge me, leading to difficulties I brought upon myself via social media. But since signing with Ohm, he’s not messing with me.

I don’t know what else to say, so I’ll just post these photos—from the day we discussed the contract to the day I was pressured into making the song called “Dok Krajeaw Ban.”
