After stepping away from the entertainment industry, former famous leading man Stefan Santi who has now shifted to creating content on his own YouTube channel, recently shared a story he had never told before on his channel.
AntiheroThai was the first to reveal to everyone that
during his first time studying in England, he nearly died, almost becoming a victim of a psychopathic killer. He had never told anyone this terrifying story: When he arrived in England, his friend was supposed to pick him up in London, but couldn’t because he was in Leicester. His friend was very kind and came from a lovely family.
Since his friend couldn’t pick him up, he had to find a place to stay for one night. Suddenly, a foreign man approached and talked to him while he was waiting to meet immigration officers. At that time, England was still prejudiced against Thailand; when people came from Asia, they feared we might spread diseases.
To enter England, lung tests were required. Even though he had an X-ray result from Thailand, he still had to undergo testing. He was carrying a pouch with 50,000 British pounds because back then, transferring money abroad was expensive. His family told him to carry cash, but carrying so much money was illegal, so his aunt sewed a pouch like a vendor’s to hide it close to his body.
When they found the pouch with 50,000 pounds, he was detained on suspicion of illegal activity—trafficking weapons or drugs. He had to stay in that room for 5-6 hours for investigation. Eventually, they found he had done nothing illegal; he was carrying the money to pay tuition fees, and the matter was resolved.
After being released, he saw a white man aged 50-60 waiting for him, staring at him several times. He recognized the man’s face. The man had waited even while he was in the room. When he came out, the man spoke to him. He thought the man had also been detained, so he sympathized and started talking. Surprisingly, the man spoke Thai despite being foreign. He said he had lived in Thailand for a long time and was a dentist, so they talked.
The man invited him to ride together. He agreed because they both had immigration experiences. But he felt uneasy about the man, thinking he was strange. He thought, given the man’s age, he probably couldn’t harm him. They went into the city, ate, and he thanked him. Then the man invited him to his place, but the hotel staff questioned why they didn’t stay together to save money. The man agreed they could share a room, and after staff insistence, he finally agreed to stay with him.
After resting, he heard footsteps on the carpet. When he woke up, the man was staring at him, admiring his looks as if he were a handsome prince. It might sound like vanity, but he said he looked best during his time in England, not after entering showbiz. When he asked what the man wanted, the man said it was morning and complimented his looks. He told the man to go back to his own bed. The man kept talking, so he asked if he was gay. The man asked how he knew and admitted he was, saying he just admired him like art. He didn’t harm him but stared like a psychopath. After that, the incident passed.
He graduated but didn’t receive his diploma because he hadn’t paid tuition due to family problems. So he returned to Thailand. Because of his good looks, he entered the entertainment industry. His first job was a commercial that paid 150,000 baht, just enough to pay off his tuition debt. He flew back to settle payments and collect his diploma and belongings. Since his old home was being renovated, he stayed at the hotel where he had stayed with the man. Staff recognized him and told him, “Do you know? You almost died. That foreigner was caught; he had killed someone and fled. Luckily, he didn’t kill you. If you had woken up late that day, you might have been drugged. It was very scary. You were lucky to survive.”
