Aun Phuwanat Recounts Life-Threatening Moment Skiing Downhill, Nearly Buried in Snow

Many people became concerned after seeing the post by Aun Phuwanat in which he recounted a life-threatening moment sliding down a mountain off the ski trail. Previously, Aun had taken his family to play in the snow at Niseko, Japan, known as a skier's paradise for its thick, soft snow. However, this trip unexpectedly took a dangerous turn.

Aun described the life-or-death moment and shared the last photo he took while falling down the mountain through the safety net. He got stuck atop a pine tree, a more frightening situation than expected because he was not standing on solid ground but on branches supporting his weight above a thick snow pile. Any wrong move could have caused him to fall and be buried in the snow instantly.

“The last photo shows Aun Phuwanat falling down the mountain skiing in Niseko, breaking through the net. #FirstThai The instructor said he couldn’t understand how I went down there. Honestly, it was very scary because I was suspended atop a pine tree over snow. I could have fallen and been buried anytime. There was no solid ground. Moving was risky, but staying still wasn’t an option either. The instructor told me to stay calm but to find a way up. A helicopter almost had to come. It was frightening but also kind of funny. #TooExhaustedToTravel #AunPleaseStop #WeAreSimplePeople”

The photos show how difficult and dangerous the situation was, but he was ultimately helped to safety. Fortunately, Aun did not suffer any serious injuries.
